Startup Snippets - Blitzscaling Airbnb
Recently, I have been rewatching the Blitzscaling series from Greylock where they invited renowned entrepreneurs/founders to talk about their startup journey and problems that they ran when scaling their companies.
I will be writing a few important and often unique takeaways from each of the episode with my thoughts/comment along with them.
- "The best way to prepare yourself to be a founder is to go create a company. If you can't create a company, start a club, product, community." My comment on this is that we often hear the first part quite a bit. Similar advice would be like, "the best preparation to be a CEO is to be a CEO". However, the second part of the comments is quite useful in which Brian understood the complexity and mental barrier to become a founder of a "Company". So if it is really about the mental barrier, taking baby steps in starting a club or community is a good way to build up that confidence and habit of doing so.
- Most people will help you if you ask. The biggest reason people don't help is because they don't ask. So be shameless and have the courage in asking until you truly understand your question or have what you were looking for.
