What is GPT-3? Part 2

Following on what GPT-3 is and how people are starting to use it, today's snippet will focus on my thoughts of how our near future would look like when this model become more mature and widely adopted.

The Shift of Creative Design

With the raise of UGC consumption (Youtube, TikTok, Facebook), there is an economy of creative freelance designers for hire on rich media content creation and edits. These freelancers' main job is helping the creative mind in front of the camera to bring their ideas to life in the form images and videos. The effort and skills required of these jobs are currently very high. They usually spend days and months in creating a piece of content depending on how customized the end result is. Even something as simple as a finding a royalty free image, editing it, animating it, then inserting it within a video vlog could take up more time than to shoot the actual vlog itself.

Image the same task but it can be done in a minute, or even a second with the help of GPT-3. Even more impressive, all of these content would be one of a kind custom made for your video. This will be possible because GPT-3 is actually creating a new image based on your specific description. It will know exactly where you want to place it with the animation that you want it.

When we get here, there are probably two choices for the creative freelancers to take. The first option is, they will go out of business or have to switch jobs because the talent in front of the camera will be able to handle their creative production process end to end with the next AI (GPT-3) empowered Final Cut Pro. Or the better option two is, a selective group of freelancers will move upstream to understand more on the audience market and eventually take on more responsibility on the idea generation process.

As always, the hope of AI is not to take over jobs and become terminator. It is about enhancing productivity and proliferating human's potential.
